About
Get to know your instructor!
Layne Christensen was born and raised in Durham, NC. Because she was a gymnast, dancer, and cheerleader in school so she often attended yoga classes. She earned a B.A. in psychology from Vanderbilt University. She then earned her Physician Assistant degree from Emory University. Tired of the hustle and bustle of living in Atlanta, she returned to North Carolina and moved to Emerald Isle and decided to take some time to work on herself. Layne started practicing yoga daily and quickly realized that yoga was not only a form of exercise. Yoga is a way of life. She has helped her feel stronger both mentally and physically. Layne was always on the move and found it difficult to calm her mind as she has struggled with anxiety and depression. During her journey through practicing yoga she has learned that controlling your breath and combining the breath with the body can help her slow her brain down and be a happier, brighter person. She is excited to share her journey and help others realize that yoga is for everyone. She completed a nationally accredited 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program and received her national Certified Teacher Training credential. She is excited to start this new chapter as a teacher herself. You can often find her doing yoga, fishing, playing with her two dogs (Heidi-Ho and Piper) or all of the above at the point or on the beach. She loves being outside and on the water!
